2000 Chevy Silverado..Entire new wheel hub or can I replace bearings only?

I've gotten mixed results with this one. I have a worn wheel bearing sound in my left front. I have directions, from this very site, on how to change the wheel bearings/seal, but I'm not sure if it's for a 2000 Silverado 2wd. I'm seeing most everywhere online that I cannot replace/service the seals and bearings and that I have to buy an entire new wheel hub assembly. I would seriously be ticked at GM for these shinanigans if it is true. So Please, inquire.

you can take the hub off and have a new bearing pressed in but it,s just as easy to change the whole hub. john is mistaken because i changed 1 for a man the other day on a GMC sierra.

Typically the front wheels bearing are in the wheel hub (just replaced mine today) What did you expect from GM???
