My 2000 Chevy Malibu is making a fast clicking sound when you first start it. It is the same noise, and coming from the same place as the turn signal noise, but the signal is not on. It stops after about 30 seconds, but it is a very quick click sound. If you turn on the turn signal or the flashers, it will slow down the pace. Once you turn it off the fast noise comes back. No lights are blinking on the outside when this happens.

What can be causing this?
The starter has been tested and checks out. This noise is identical and coming from the same spot as the turn signal noise.
This doesn't sound like fuel pump noises. I've been there, done that. It literally sounds like the turn signal is on, except faster.

your starter is dying take it to the shop and get it replaced before your car doesn't start one day.

When you first turn the key on, the fuel pump will prime the engine to start. Could it be the fuel pump, or the fuel pump's relay that you're hearing?

something is wrong with your wiring? could just be your fuse box but i don't why it would need to click so much. it is not your starter by the way. the car should be fine for a while, until the wire that's causing the problem finally goes. this happened in my dads car and it caused his lights to not work, when it took us 4 hrs to find and it was the tiniest wire and it was so corroded, it was a factory spline. by the way it was a Pontiac Sunfire 2002 so probably same thing as your car.
