I have a 2000 chevy cavalier and it is overheating here is how it started: It was only over heating when i was stopped welll that was because the fan wasn't working so I replaced the fan motor and now it's working... Well that worked until it started overheating when I was driving so we replaced the thermostat and the fan relay... Still overheating... So we took the thermostat out and it was fine didn't over heat or leak nothing but before when it was overheating it would leak my cooolant... Well the people who took my thermostat out drained my coolant and put in water... Well when I put my thermostat back in it started overheating again... Well we thought it was the water so we drained the water and put coolant back into it and it still overheating and it's leaking again... I don't what's wrong with it...

it might be your water pump, or a faulty radiator.

if you smell that funky antifreeze coming out of the exhaust it might be a broken head gasket which can get pricy... maybe its not.
