1999 chevy suburban 5.7L crankshaft help?

i took my 1999 chevy engine apart and discovered that crankshaft had very small grooves on it and i can feel them if i run my finger across it. Is this bad or normal? if the cost of repairs ( if needed ) is higher than the cost of a new crankshaft. please tell me.
