I just baught a 1999 Chevy Malibu. I traded my truck for it. The day after I got it, the ignition lock cylinder froze up. The shop told me it would cost me $300 to fix... well I don't have the money to deal with that issue right now. This is my ONLY transportation. I baught one of those lock cylinder switches from Auto Zone. Tore my ignition apart, not intending to break the thing (explosion of magnets... not good). I need help. I cut and wired up the ignition wires as best as I could to this "ignition switch" from the parts store, but still nothing. It attempts to start, but will NOT crank over. I already know about the Passlock system, as I used to work for Chevy a while back ago. I don't think this is a Passlock issue however. After wiring the switch, now my windows are not working. Any wiring genius that could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. And yes, I have the Malibu Haynes manual, and that's not really helping right now. Any help? PLEASE!?!?!? If I remember correctly the wires to the ignition are Red (+), Yellow (Starter), Brown, Green, Pink, Red/Black, and not sure of the rest off the top of my head... Thanks in advance...
And by the way, the starter switch from the parts store only has 4 terminals, BAT, ACC, IGN, STARTER. If anyone could tell me what wires are going to which terminal, I can probably take it from there... Thanks again!
