I am in need of a new engine. The one that I have right now has oil pressure issues. when I start it I have great oil pressure both on the dash and an aftermarket guage but after warm up it drops to 5-10psi. so my question is...I have another block that has been punched out .040 that needs a rebuild. do I have that one rebuilt? or do I just buy a fully remaned? and if I buy a remaned how big can I go? if I have the other block done what can I have done to it so I can still use the factory pcm ect...sorry if this has been discussed before

right now I dont do any heavy towing but i do plan on buying a 20-28ft pull behind in the next few years

Does it stay at 5-10psi while driving? Mine drops some too at idle, but climbs back up off idle. Ii's not what you like to see but it's not anything to really worry about IMO.
You haven't said what engine you have. I wouldn't worry about needing a larger engine. I'd worry more about the type of tranny you have and how many miles it has.
If it were me, and I was convinced that the engine is done for. I'd avoid a block that was already bored out and used before and rebuild the one in it. Have it magnafluxed for cracks and do whatever oversize it takes to true the cylinders up again and go from there. An remanuf engine is nice, they come with a warranty, but you pay for it. you still don't know if they used the best parts or took shortcuts. The warranty is nice but it doesn't help you if it blows on a trip somewhere.
Just my $.02 YMMV.
