Greetings and thanks in advance for any help. I've acquired a 1988 3/4 ton Suburban 5.7 L that's not entirely original. Alternator went out and the one it calls for (AC Delco 334-2372) Which is a CS-130 appears to mount on the driver side. The alternator that came off of it is an old 10si mounted on the passenger side. I'm sure the CS-130 is the correct alternator and would like to restore to original but not sure which side it mounts or what bracket configuration I need to search for. Can anyone clarify ?

Many Thanks

Have you considered the fact that you do not have the original engine? have you checked the engine code and partial VIN to see if it is correct for your vehicle?

Thanks Zora and no I've not verified that yet. It's on my list for today. But I discovered yesterday what I believe is the problem. I was making the assumption that it was a K series truck and when I finally got smart and ran the VIN id I found that it's actually a V20 series which was apparently only produced in 87 - 88. The V20 calls for a different alternator (AC Delco 334-2339). Looking at the photos and spec sheets it should physically mount in place of the 10si. I had to order it from AutoZone and it should be in this afternoon.
Now since this one is also a CS-130 and the engine/vehicle is wired for the 10si I will have to use the adapter (PT-2145) and obviously means that something has been changed and is not original.

Thanks again and I'll post again when I have more info
