Help! Just bought a 2016 Suburban LTZ. 100k miles. We’ve been shopping around for a while and found one we like. Test drove like a dream in the city and in town. Smooth. Quiet. All the bells and whistles.

I get 5 miles off the lot and down the highway and all the sudden there is a loud obnoxious rattle coming from behind the console, seemingly between the cup holder and where the AC section starts. No rhym or reason regarding road smoothness. It does get louder at about 70MPH. I told my dad it sounds like a flag is flapping in the wind behind there, or dice in a Yahtzee cup rattling around.

Anyone have any suggestions? I’m taking it back on Monday to have the dealer look at it but I’m sure they won’t be able to recreate it (my luck!). I love the car but I cannot stand the noise, especially if I’m taking long road trips. I’d have to wear noise canceling headphones! Ha.

Dash has to be opened up to see the cause of the noise.

Any idea on what I can expect as an estimate for that should I have to take it to a mechanic other than where I purchased it?

A couple of hours time at whatever rate they charge.
