Any input on this guys would be great.... i have been fighting with my wofes malibu for months trying to fix it heres the deal. 1.Check engone light p0128 - thermostat issue
2. Temperature gauge reads 0 all the time
3. Ac wont work becouse the p0128 cuts off the ac incase the car is overheating.
4. Cooling fans come on and stay on with ignition
Things i have replaced
1.Thermo stat twice
2. Coolant temp sensor
3. Flushed coolant and burped
4. Replaced ecu! Had dealer reflash
5. Battery
6. Coolant fan relays
When i unplug the ecu and plug it back in or the battry, or delete the check engine light the car acts fine for 5 to 10 mins ac works no cel and temp guage works ... then temp needle drops to cold, check engine light comes on, no ac...
Very agrivating only thing left i can think of is a chewed up wire somewere, all the cooling fans work.
But i conducted an experiment i took a measurement of the resistance of the coolant temp sensor out of the car and got 2.24 k ohms which is correct. I then dropped it in hot water and whatched the resistance change correctly. I then in stallled it in the car and with the key off its 2.24 k ohms but key on it goes to .01k ohms and wont move and i measured it at the ecu and sensor. Thanks so much!
