'01 chevy silverado interior question?

i am looking at buying a 01 silverado 1500 z71. i see it has two buttons in the middle of the console, about a foot or so below the radio. what is that for? is it one of those things where the display on the vehicle shows mpg and average speed and stuff? please help.

Sounds like you are describing the driver information center which is on the front of the center console below the radio. The driver information center includes a trip odometer and it monitors numerous systems depending on the equipment and it displays messages such as low fuel warning and oil change notification. I expect the 2 buttons you are referring to is the menu and select buttons to access and set/reset the monitored systems and messages. Consult the owner's manual to see the driver information center (DIC) operating instructions.
