Default 2004 equinox idel problem

When I first start my equinox after it's been setting for more than an hour, it starts right up, then dies. It restarts OK, and if I give it the gas it comes up to normal idle, and will idle at about 800 from then on. Never happens when it was just off for a short while, and never stalls after it has been up to normal idle speed. Any ideas?

when is the last time you did basic maintenace? Plugs, fuel filter, air filter, etc.?
do you have a check engine light on?
have you ever cleaned the throttle body and idle air control valve?
