Default Fast Charging a 2020 Chevy Bolt EV Still Tops Out at 55kW

Even with increased battery capacity and a bump in range, initial tests show that the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV won't achieve any increase on the maximum power it can pull from a DC fast-charge station.

Tests of the latest model year Bolt EV are underway and it looks like GM wonít deliver on one of the most commonly requested improvements: increasing the carís DC fast charge rate.

Various updates emerging from social media show the 2020 Chevy Bolt EV topping out at 55kW, the same rate familiar to anyone fast charging a previous model year with the 60kWh battery pack.

Letís take a look at some of these early tests and what they mean for the 2020 Bolt EVís overall fast charge time.
