Default Hello and a question

Hi all,

Just joined the forum today. I look forward to finding some great info here. Thanks for having me join!

I have a '96 Tahoe 4x4 with the 350 cid engine. I've had it since 2011 when I traded a guy the Jeep I had for it (needed room for the kidos!) The truck has approximately 220k miles on it but is in great shape. Aside from minor repairs it has no issues.

Background info---back during the summer my A/C was not cooling at all. Long story short is was a little low on Freon. After an added can it got worse and figured I had a leak. Added a can with leak stop; got better then worse again. Long story short, change the LP needle valve and that seemed to fix it. Shortly there after battery started dying daily. After jumping off daily, I began tracing the voltage leak. After pulling every fuse I found nothing. Last thing I checked was the relay under the hood--presto! Bad relay stuck in the ON position had the clutch engaged 24/7 so it was drawing the battery down.

Now, my actual question. Since then, my clutch rarely engages by itself. I have to open the hood and tap on the front with something and it will engage, but will not stay on. I'm assuming that when the system cycles off/on is when it will not start again. What is causing this? Bad clutch electromagnet or something else. It's still WAY to hot where I live to have to deal with this.

All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

using a voltmeter determine how many volts are being applied and also check the ground for the clutch for corrosion.
