Cowl Induction Flange

Hi everyone,
I have a question in regards to the flat spot on the cowl induction air flange. I am in the progress of installing a cowl induction hood with related parts, I currently have the factory domed hood on my 1972 chevelle. I bought all the goodies for the cowl induction system and noticed that the flange has a flat spot , I installed the seal around the flange and mounted on air the cleaner housing, fits very good but why is there a flat spot on the flange it looks like it is out of round at about 10 o'clock, because of flat spot. I don't see what factor this for. The camaro flange is perfectly round. Does anyone know why there is a flat spot on the edge of flange? what is this for?
thanks

without seeing what you are referring to it is difficult to answer. Did you contact the company that sold you the kit?
