Obviously whoever did the rebuild screwed it up dear. I hope it came with a guarantee...as for the speedo not working, the doofus either didn't reconnect the speedo cable to the tranny (that's where the speedo comes from in older (not digital) cars...if you did the rebuild yourself I don't know what to say, lots of possibilities for why it's not shifting...missing gasket will do it among a myriad of other things...bands not adjusted correctly, etc, etc...like I said hope you have a guarantee

check at the rear of the trans on the drivers side, the speed sensor is there, it has an electrical connector, make sure it's plugged in, if it is have the shop recheck its work. if the speed sensor is not working you will not have a speedo and the trans will not shift. good luck.

define not shifting out.... do you mean not upshifting ???
possibly detent cable misadjusted..... trying to remember if that model has one...
as for speedometer, who rebuilt it, was the tailshaft gear for the speedometer put back on ???
also last but not least did you get at least 13 quarts of transmission fluid in it ???
