The car at least turned on when I had the bad battery in it. Now when I have the new battery in the lights, door locks etc. wont even work. The car doesn't even make a sound when I turn the key. I have already checked all fuses in the car. The only thing I can think of is that there could be a theft mechanism in the computer of the car thats preventing me from starting it. Maybe I shorted the battery out when putting the new one in, who knows? If anyone has any experience with this specific problem please help.

if you have the old battery, reintall it and see what happens.
if it tries to turn over. the new battery may be bad. you can get bad parts off the shelf. and also what did the battery cables look like, was the positive corroded, if so clean it good.
the security would not keep it from starting, it would just die
a second later. and also it would still have power to turn lights on

One of two things.

1) Your new battery is dead.

2) You hooked the battery up backwards and fried the electrical system.

make sure you put it in correctly. then check connections at the starter. you can short across the poles at the starter and see if the engine turns that would narrow it down some.
usually these problems are harder to find than fix.
