I am doing a project for school and in my investigation I must find out how much electricity is needed to charge an electric car. So if you could maybe give me an example, how much electricity would it take to charge it for just 1 hour? And how much would it cost?

--You can use either use a 220 ac outlet or a 120 ac outlet. It all depends on Your car batteries. and as i have heard it takes from 2 - 4 hours for a full charge.
--You need to check with the company that are selling the electric cars and get that inof. from them.. There are still working on getting a good working car.. they aren't to reliable as of yet. I wouldn't buy one until they proof they work right.

no one really knows for sure yet. Its still under development. The real question is how long will it take to fully recharge. With current technology a fill up will take hours unlike the 2 or 3 minutes most of are use to with gas cars.

I'm not sure how much it uses but I read in an american article online that it costs about 80 american cents to charge it. That's about 60 pence in the UK in today's conversion rate.
Here, I just did a search and found a different article but it also states it's 80 cents: Scroll down to Chrysler's mix of technologies paragraph http://online.barrons.com/article/SB122367856062224505.html?mod=googlenews_barrons

Mee-4-am is right.
The lower charge times are for the higher voltage outlet. Most people would use the lower voltage outlet which would take around 9 hours to charge, or so I've read.

I doubt many people could answer this unless they know the capacity of the batteries and their state of charge.
