For some reason, whenever I start up my car (the '05 aveo), it idles really high, sometimes around 2000 RPMs. It does the same thing when I shift gears, for instance shifting from drive to park, and shoots up from less than 1000 RPMs where it should be, to again around 2000 RPM's. The problem isn't that it idles higher when I shift gears, as this happens with most cars, but it usually takes a while for it to go back down to where it should be. Sometimes, also, it idles so high that the speed becomes difficult to control when I'm backing out of my driveway or something. I literally have to ride the brake when I backing out of my completely level driveway so that I don't end up going 15 miles per hour when I get to the end of it.
The car is still under warranty, so i'd like to get an idea as to what may be wrong with it. Any ideas?
