I need some help with a 98 chevy tahoe radio?

The radio in my 1998 chevy tahoe does not go on right away when I start the car. A few minutes later it will go on with a screeching whine in the background. When I step on the gas, the noise gets louder. what does this mean?

That behavior isn't that uncommon with those radios. It's possible it's misbehaving due to a bad electrical system or faulty alternator/regulator. If there is a problem with the electrical system that's a lot more serious than a noisy radio. But most likely it's just the radio, it's broken.
