1994 Chevy Suburban Transmission question?

I have a 1994 Chevy Suburban it needs a transmission. I have a man who has a trans without the torque converter- CAN I INSTALL THE TRANS with my old TORQUE CONVERTER? WHAT SHOULD I LOOK OUT FOR?

Where did this trans come from? Does it have nice colored fluid? What happened to the torque converter?

I'd want the converter that went with the trans or get a rebuilt one. If your trans bit the dust that fluid is in that converter. It will go into the 'new' trans you install.
