I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4D 4WD with about 140k miles. A couple months ago I replaced both shifting solenoids in the tranny and flushed all fluids after testing the check engine light with the OBD II tester, which told me that was the problem.
Now, the check engine light went back on a couple weeks ago and I've noticed some sputtering/rough gear changes/lack of power.
I used the OBD II again today and it told me the number 5 cylinder was misfiring. I took a look and by the looks of the white powder on the outside of the chords that I need new plugs, wires, rotar, and cap.
ALSO, I lost my reverse gear, and also lost my overdrive. At 65mph I'm stuck at 2700-3000 RPM's which is alot higher than the normal 2000-2300.
So my question is... could it just be a stuck valve in the transmission or is it worse? I hear if you lose reverse your tranny is pretty much toast. Also, I got a few estimates for rebuilt tranny's and the cheapest was 1200. Im a broke college student. HELP!
I made sure to keep it clean as possible when I switched out the shifting solenoids. Dirt isn't the problem. All new fluids.
