I used to have a 2005 Saturn Vue and it had to have Castrol 5W30 (and nothing else!) because it was a 6-cylinder Honda engine (that is what I was told in a Saturn seminar anyway and I always abided by it and never had a problem with my engine). Now I have a 2009 Chevy Traverse LS Model (standard options) I just bought May 9th, 2009, and I'm wondering: what type of oil does the engine for it take (before I have the first oil change done in August)? It has a 281 horsepower 3.6 liter V6 engine.

Assuming the owner's manual specifies 5W-30, then any of the 5W-30 oils listed on the following GM approved list are acceptable.

Its an easy process and you can do this with suitable kits. Just get through the process and do it by yourself.
