its an 03' Chevy Tahoe with a 4.8L has 67,xxx miles

yesterday i was coming back home from a usual day at the the river. the truck was loaded with 6 big guys and an ice chest in the rear... ive had the Tahoe loaded if not with more weight before plenty of times... as i approach the on ramp fro the free way im stuck at the red light.. as i climb the over past i notice the truck was laggin in power as if it was in 4th gear or as if i was pulling a yacht behind me. then the check engine light comes on as i get on the freeway i notice at 70 mph my rpms where at 3000-3300 rpm so it appeared the truck was not going passed third gear. i pull over to the nearest gas station and checked the fluids... it had perfect amount of fluid in the trans,, i let it cool down and hop back on the freeway runs smooth again but the light is still on. i make it home with no more problems with the trans and disconnect the battery and the wait a few minutes before i reconnected again. the light went away and i havent had the problem occur again...was it a flute or a fart in the computer or something serious??? has anyone had this problem?/

It could be just a glitch or what we call a soft code meaning the light comes on but doesn't stay on that long or when reset doesn't reappear asap.I might want to find out if any program or flash updates exist via dealership or and service bulletins or factory recalls etc exist , sometimes some auto stores have such info on hand for you to check via a comp system for gree too.

From the year of that vehicle I'd say it's has well over 100,000 miles on it and is probably due for a transmission fluid and filter change and it could be related to this problem. You might wish to change the fluid and filter and perhaps add a transmission cooler unit they run sometimes less then 100 bucks can be installed fairly easily.

If you do have further issues and go to get estimates etc be sure you get more then one opinion.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if the light comes on again I'd get it scanned for free and find out what code comes up it's always a good idea to know why the light came on.Be careful not to allow the rpms to go much over 3000 .
