What kind of oil is recommended for a 2004 Chevy Aveo?

My sister bought one a couple years ago and it didn't have the manual. She's been putting 10W-40 in it, but I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone knew for sure.

5w-30 is a good safe all area oil. Most people use 10w-30. The manual has a guide in what conditions to use each oil.
