2009 Ford Focus VS 2009 Chevy Cobalt?

Which one is better? I'm in college and it's my first car.

Both of them have similar prices, and most auto sites recommend the ford focus as a good back to school car. However, I've also heard that a Ford tends to break down often (compared to a Chevy).

What do you think?

The new 2009 Ford Focus is really a 2004-2009 Mazda 3 so it is a good and fun, great handling car.
But the Ford is ugly.

The Chevy Cobalt looks better inside and out and is just as practical and fuel efficient and just as powerful and fast.

Both cars have poor resale values.

Chevy beats a ford hands down. I have owned both and always had much better luck with the chevys. Any GM car is better than a ford.
I have had several chevy vehicles and they all went well over 200,000 miles.
