a single car won't do anything to gas prices. Gas prices are set on the global market. China and India have a combined 2.3 BILLION people and they are all starting to buy cars. The US has 300 million people. It won't make a lick of difference in gas prices.
It IS a step in the right direction. As they say, a journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. The Volt is one of the first steps in a long journey.
As far as whether or not it will help GM? Probably not. The car is expensive to produce, they won't be making any money from it. GM's financial problems run deep.

That coming from a Dodge lover? LOL Dodge makes the biggest POS' on the road. The only thing they have going from them is their minivan sales and the 300...every other vehicle they make is complete junk. Wake up Chuck, Dodge is horrible, check that...all of Chrysler is horrible. Aside from the 300 they don't make a single car that's reliable, NOT cheap material wise and they can't even build a top of class sports car(Challenger is going to get its ass handed to it by the Camaro and the non ARC Viper has been getting wiped up by the Z06) You=fail.
Anyway, the Volt won't do anything to gas prices, a low production car won't make even the slightest dent in gas consumption in this country.

Its a question if GM will even be a company soon. Lets hope they go out of business or else stop making cheap cars and trucks.
