dont want to run over 2000 rpm why? i have a chevy 305 i choped the exthust pipe off so there is no pipe.i wanted to run it to c how it would sound and it ran fine for a minet than acted as if it flooded it self out i dont no if theres not enuf back compreshon or what the deal is.

Like first poster said. You need back pressure for the engine to function properly. You need to get a new exhaust system on there soon.

It will eventually cause damage to your engine.

It's most likely a back pressure issue but try putting something over whatever may be left of the exhaust like a thick towel or something.
