how do I change the shift knob on a 2005 chevrolet cobalt?

i have a new shift knob i want to put on and I have no idea how to get my stock one off.

Removal Procedure
Important: Place the shift control in NEUTRAL before attempting to remove the shift knob screw.

Pull the shift knob bezel down to expose the shift knob retaining screw.

Remove the shift knob retaining screw.

Remove the shift knob
and bezel from the shift control lever.

Installation Procedure

Install the bezel and shift knob to the shift control lever.

Install the shift knob retaining screw.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Secure the shift knob bezel to the shift knob.

gm procedures, BEST ANSWER??

It most likely is screwed on, but some chances are that it could have a set screw in it on the side somewhere. I'd go with choice one.
