1996 Chevy Tahoe LT stereo problem.?

I'm having a problem with my factory stereo. About 90% of the time it doesn't even turn on but when i'm driving, sometimes it will light up and turn on. Now when it's on, i have to turn it all the way up to hear it faintly. Any ideas on whats going on? Also, how the heck do I take the dash off so I can pull out the factory stereo and check the wires?

most likely its going to be a ground wire (loose connection) the stereo trim is just snapped in you dont need to take the whole dash apart
