chevrolet cavalier 96 tranny? ive heard that a bad oil can cause a breakdown on the gear box; for reference is a 5 gears manual tranny

Check your owners manual for the type of fluid recommended. Alot of late model GM's call for GM Syncromesh Fluid. or Automatic Transmission fluid. If thats what your owners manual says, then thats what you should put in. It's specifically formulated for GM's and is a superior quality fluid...............
Keep in mind that in a manual transmission, the fluid is for lubrication only. It's not subjected to the harsh environments like engine oil or an Automatic Transmissions. The right fluid as per owners manual is all you need !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Using Mobil Synthetic gear oil is ok IF your tranny uses gear oil. If not, then NO..........
