Engine skid plate?

I have a Chevrolet Equinox 2007, and noticed that there is no engine skid guard to protect the starter, a/c compressor and other electrical parts under the engine.
My Compressor just got damaged because of this due to water and dirt can easily get in the bearings. Loud bearing noise. Does anyone know if this skid guard plate is optional or could it be missing from my car?
If so, where can I get a new or used one?
Did not buy it new.

There are no optional skid plates available. Those are for serious off road vehicles which the Equinox and Terrain are not.
