What Kind of Mileage Do You Get

Hey guys, I was just at Advance Auto Parts and the manager there has an 08 Equinox LT. She told me she's getting 34 mpg out of it. I just about fell over. It's got the same engine as mine and I'm getting about 23.4. I bought new plugs, wires, air filter, pcv valve, oil and filter for mine. I'm thinking it still has the original plugs and wires and most likely pcv valve, so it won't hurt to do a full tune up before our church convention in GA next month. I find it hard to believe that she's getting that kind of mileage out of hers, but maybe she never drives over 45 mph! I don't know, but I'm going to try to improve mine. And what's with the 3.4 requiring AC/Delco Iridium plugs?? Those suckers are expensive. I hope they last the 3 year warranty period. So what kind of mileage are the rest of you getting out of your Equinoxs???

Oh man, what a job to replace the back three plugs and wires on this engine. I'd love to meet the designer who came up with this idea, just to kick him in the groin. It took me two and a half hours to replace the plugs and wires. The air filter, oil change and pcv valve are very easy. Ninety five degrees here, so the wiper motor replacement will wait for a cooler morning.

Mines a 2011 with teh 4 (2.4) engine -- I finally got to do some highway/expresswat driving. Around town 17-19 mpg buy on the way up to Lake Geneva (about 100 miles) I had 75% express way 20% highway (45-55 mph) and the remainder CRAWLING through the over-crowded town -- Got 24.8 MPG. On the way home (onto the expresasway - filled up - reset) I got 28 mpg average. Just turned 1000 miles. I know with my 2.4 on my SKY it took about 10000 muiles before I got optimal milage.

Thanks for the reply, Rick. I just find it very hard to believe that the 3.4 in an 08 is doing so much better than mine. Maybe her's isn't an AWD. Maybe that's the difference. I've got to get some throttle body cleaner and clean mine. I notice the choke plate on it was kind of dirty when I changed the air filter. Mine has 75,000 miles on it.

I own a 2007 and get about 22mpg weekly. My wife and I recently took a 2.5 hour trip and got close to 32mpg highway.
