should it last? The dealer gave me the part number (88900682 78-60) which I Googled and found to be ACDelco.

4 to 5 yrs except when you have a alternator go bad or have a short that drains and ruins the battery.Corroded battery cable end will also cause a no charge discharge condition that will kill a battery.

Five years is a good average for most decent batteries.

The answer is in the part number (78-60). It is a 78 series battery and is warrantied for 60 months (5 years on a pro-rated system). That means that for every year of service Gm will pay you less towards the price of a new battery should this one fail. Keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

ACdelco is a stanard part for all GM products. so thats no big surprise. batteries will generally be tempermental after 2 yrs. after that(2yrs) dont be surprised if it takes a dump. so ur almost there. see if u have awarranty still covering it.(should be on the battery).

A batt should last about 4 to 6 years however some batt are defective and may last 1 to 2. If you bought it at a well know place it should be under warranty, contact them.

i would give yourself prob about another 2 years then i would take it to a place to test the batery and see if it has good life still left in it and if is good i would keep it and replace it again in mybe another year or two
also if you take care of your batery by cleaning the posts of the white or green corrosion that collects on the batery posts then you should have your battery last a long time check your battery evey month for corrosion.
