i bought a 92 cavalier 2.2l. auto when it drives the transmission don't shift right, or don't want to shift at All in 3rd gear, sometimes 2nd. or sometimes it shifts fine. Yes the fluid is good and full too.. The guy I got it from said he replaced the Detent cable..I told the guy the problem I am having and he said that the problem could be the Detent cable may need adjustment . what I want to know could this be true? I don't know much about this problem or this cable so can someone help me out? thanks in advance
what is a detent cable you ask?
Many people believe that this is a detent downshift cable and that this is the only function that the cable performs. In actuality, the TV Cable controls line pressures, shift points, part throttle downshifts and detent downshifts. The cable functions similarly to the combination vacuum modulator/cable systems found on other automatic transmissions.
