How much does a dent in a car door cost on a 2007 chevy HHR?

My husband backed into someones car that was parked behind us and we have to pay for the dent that they got in their door. it's a pretty good size dent but thats all that was damaged.

is insurance not paying for it? and it depends on if they choose the body shop or you because they probably wont search for a cheaper body shop

I have been doing autobody for nearly 30 years now , sounds tyo me like its going to need a door skin replaced, when nthis happens you have to paint both panels on either side of it, those panels have to have all the trim removed and preped for a blend I am thinking arond 2500.00
