My girlfriend's automatic Chevy Aveo 08' is stuck on the shoulder embankment of the road after she went driving in a snow storm. The car is tilted at roughly a 45 degree angle, frontal view (hood of car), driver's side down, with the angle increasing towards the back of the car (backed up on the embankment). The front driver's side wheel is angled slightly into the ground and appears to be bearing a bit of weight as the passenger side wheel is just off the ground. When we tried to accelerate the driver's side wheel would not turn; the passenger side would spin freely in the air. When shifting from drive to park (pressing on brakes first) the driver's side wheel would make a clicking sound for a short time that would progressively diminish and stop. Does anyone have a clue what the issue might be? Some kind of front drive train or joint problem? Is it worth pulling the car out with my truck to see if it would drive or should I just have it towed to a mechanic? Any help is much appreciated.
