I am looking at buying the 2LT version, with leather seats and sunroof, etc. My main question involves the engine. What size engine do you have? I know the 4 cylinder is standard, and the V-6 is $1,500 more. Can you tell me which engine size you picked, and your reasons behind it? I know the 4 cylinder would get better gas mileage, but the V-6 would have more power. Thanks!!

Hey Susan - just got my 2LT Saturday and overall very happy :)
I went with the 4 cyl. for fuel economy. This is my first SUV ... I was previously driving a Honda Accord ...and even though it was also a 4cyl.. that V-tec engine definitely had some power, so at times I forgot was I driving a 4 cyl. With that being said... on the Equinox, I do notice the lack of power and punch behind the engine. I expected to, though. I guess it's all in what you want and are expecting. I wanted the better gas mileage over the extra 'pep'. I will say it has caused me to change my driving habits though... no more stoplight racing  LOL I don't want to throw you off from the 4 cyl. - it's not like you will roll backwards when trying to drive up hills, but you will notice the extra effort the engine is having to make.

I have a 2011 LTZ with the V6. I wanted the extra power and MPG was not my main concern. I have just over 2000 miles and am averaging 18.8 MPG with a mix of city and highway miles. When the weather warms up and I accumulate more miles I expect to do somewhat better on the MPG's but if higher MPG is what your after go with the 4 cylinder. It's a nice engine.
Plus I really like the looks of the polished dual exhaust tips on the V6. LOL

Hey Susan, I have an LT 1 with the four cyl. I've only had it for a month or so but so far it is great, i'm avg about 28 mpg and it may improve after a longer breaking in period. I went for the better fuel economy and do not have plans to ever pull a trailer. I would say that since you areconsidering an SUV, that you probably didn't want to drag race... so unless your planning to pull anything or always have a full load... I'd go with the four.

I have a 2LT AWD with the 4 cyl. I am very happy with the fuel mileage, which was what I was looking for. I am very happy with my Equinox overall.

I have the LT2 Nox with the 4 cyl engine as well. There is some noticible power loss while in ECO mode -- less with that turned off. But 24 mph in and around my lil suburb is fantasic. Only 180 miles on it -- but I was averaging 31 mpg doing 45 mph (about 12 mile drive, limited stops) -- gotta love it.
Not a race car but I did learn.. If you want to jack rabbit start.... there is a slow get-go -- once you are at say 20 mpg -- she accelerates quite nicely -- but still press -- don't tromp on the pedal.....

I have the 4-cylinder, and would get the 6-cylinder if I had it to do over. This thing has no "get-up-and-go". Do not pull out in front of anyone unless they are very far away... I guess it comes down to weighing the gas mileage. Honestly, I drive mostly city, and this car is TERRIBLE on gas mileage. If you drive alot of highway it might be different.

I have a 2LT with sunroof and leather seats, 4 cylinder motor. I picked the 4 cyl. and FWD for the better gas mileage. It gets about 29 Hwy and 22 city but still has less than 4000 miles on it. Very happy so far. Get up and go is fine with mine.

have to say after recall 11195A
i am even a bigger fan of the 4cl....
the ecm reflash got rid of all hesitation and the gas mileage was immediately better. Best yet -- no more noisy starts!!:p

I bought the 6 cl largely due to driving on 3 different highways and I need the pick up.
