Problems with my 2001 Chevy Malibu..?

Ok, My Car (2001 Chevy Malibu) wipers stop working about 2-3 days ago.
Then, I wanted to make some run's out today, no the car won't start.
Could there be an electrical Shortage, or should I just buy a new Batery or get the Alternature check...?

your first problem is that it's a chevy. but seriously: a new battery or alternator won't do anything if there is a short. what it sounds like is happening it that one of your wires rubbed against something long enough to wear off the insulation and now you have a short. but before you go through any of that stuff check all your fuses.
