Chevy aveo stuck at 1000 rpm?

I have a chevy Aveo 2005 with about 71000 miles on it.
it's been running fine.
Recently i saw that the RPM when i start the car is at 1000 rpm.
and i have also notices that now when i get out of the car i kind of smell this burning firecracker smell....

like something was on fire.

This smell hasn't been around long?

and now sometimes the car stalls to turn on.
that only happens like 1 out of 6 tries ... for some reason.
so it's not all the time.

so can anyone please help me??
i really want to find out what the problem is before it get's any worse.

Could stall if its idling to low, get a tune up

As Far as 1000 RPM that is normal voltage on the tach,look at others and they do it too!
The smell could be a valve cover leak,the stalling could be telling you it needs some maint.
