the cobalt has more HP and torque so if that is all you car about the cobalt is better. but the GTI is probably an all around better car.

besides the VW has those awesome un-pimp the auto commercials

The GTi already beats the Cobalt in terms of all-round performance (that's German engineering for you XD ) but I'd get the newly released Golf GTi Pirelli. Grippier tyres, more powerful engine and some more luxury bits for the interior.
