I have 2004 chevy trailblazer?

My check engine light came on and the thermostat needs to be changed. They didn't have time to do it today so would it be safe to drive to San Diego from the San Francisco area? The mechanic said it would be fine.

if the thermostat is sticking and it needs to be changes .. then NO . it could stick cause the engine to over heat and blow a head gasket .

I'm pretty sure. We had our Expedition like that for a long time until my dad came from out of state and could fix it. Nothing happened!
