Adding Aux input to OEM radio / CD Player

I have an Aveo 05 that i was trying to add an aux input tot the stereo head unit. I found many DIY guides on how to do this but mine didn't work the same way. I was able to find the pins that i need to hook up the right channel and left channel and the signal ground. The problem is that i don't know how to turn the unit to CD PLAYER mode so that it takes audio from those pins that i connected. you can go to my blog and look at the pictures in the post before the last. don't read anything that i wrote there,that post was just for class. but the pictures are the ones that i tool when i was trying to do this. this is the web to my blog:

I found a page on another forum that talks specifically about how to switch the unit into cd palyer mode but that is for Subaru and not for Gm Stock head units. this is the page where i read the info on how to switch the unit between different modes, you might find it helpful. look at the post number 8 on the page if you don't want to read the whole thing:
