about THE IROC-Z CAMARO. I was tellin? my wife HOW COOL IT WAS TO OWN A IROC-Z CAMARO IN THE 80s and IT ALWAYS ATTRACTED ALOT OF ATTENTION WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL. Me my wife are going to look at a 85 IROC-Z today. Do you have any good memories of the car in the 80s.

It was a cool car - back then. Now it's a has-been gas guzzling muscle car.

These kind of discussions depress me anymore, it's like skipping across the radio to the golden oldies when they are playing Whitesnake now. Makes me feel old.
My brother bought a brand new 85 IROC-Z. It was black and gray trim. I remember it well, but I was only 14 at the time. It seemed cool, but I was more impressed with the Porsche 944's, which is another iconic 80's car. I bought me a few in the 90's when I was college.
I think it's important to relive what you wanted then. Sounds cool, have fun with the car.

It is a cool car.
When I was a highschooler, all the guido guys drove them. The guys that wore the Z-Cavaricci pants and Members Only jackets and leather loafer wingtips with tassels.
Ah, the good old days.

One thing for sure. The IROC-Z was an extremely cool looking car and still is if it is restored to its original condition. But here are a few things to keep in mind about the car.
1) IROC or not, it is still a Camaro and has rust tendencies around the rear springs, trunk area, wheel wells and floor boards (rear) near the rear seat and door opening.
2) Camaro is not a preferred auto if driving in areas that have strong winters. Lack of traction on ice and snow can cause serious regrets about buying the car.
3) The over all make of the car makes the seats set low within the car. This often makes a person (fall) down into the seat and need to climb up out using the steering wheel as a grasp for ballance. Things to look for in the car would be worn out seats and springs (especially on the drivers side) and also a week or lose steering collumn.
Over all, if you are younger and stay on top of the car, then it's not a bad choice. But for us old dudes (me) it's a choice better left to the younger generation as the climbing in and out factor of the car, out weighs the looking cool factor while driving it. Good luck with the car. I hope that it all works out for you.
