99 chevy tahoe oil pump question?

how do you get the old pickup tube and screen from the old pump off? does it come off? is it ok to reuse it? Thanks.

if you are installing a new pump...
Install a new sump ! othrwise you'll be risking engine failure that no warrenty will cover

Its a press fit, if you try to reuse the old one, it will not fit as tight. Could fall off later.

The tube simply presses into the pump. It should come off - rather difficultly at times, but it will pull out none the less.
Note: Be sure it's in the proper position on the new pump before you insert it completely into the pump.
