What's Wrong With My 2006 Chevrolet Equinox?

For awhile now, it's been chugging when it's stopped (in drive, brake on) and today it suddenly seized up in the middle of an intersection. When I pressed the accelerator, nothing happened. Didn't even rev. Just wouldn't go anywhere. The engine was still running, but the car wouldn't budge.
Can anyone tell me what this could possibly be?
It's a 2006 Equinox, 3.4L.

Call the shop for warranty work. What's that 5 years or 100,000 miles and all the "better than toyota", Chevrolet is boasting about? It's time to make them ante up on it.
