View Full Version : will a 1998 chevy blazer 2-wheel drive transmission fit a 1996 chevy tahoe

4-wheel drive? the tahoe has a 4.8 or 5.1 not for sure. It has to come out.
can i install the transfer case from the tahoe 4-wheel drive to the blazer 2-wheel drive?
can i install the transfer case from the tahoe 4-wheel drive transmission to the blazer 2-wheel drive transmission?

No. Only if you want to make a 2wd out of the tahoe. I am not sure but it is probably a 4l60e transmission.

To answer your additional question you would have to change out the whole front end etc. get drive shafts and the works. Go online to car-part.com and see if you can find the correct transmission for the tahoe. This is a used car part website that is pretty good. Alot of times as you probably know you can end up spending alot more money and effort trying to save a buck. It has happened to me more than once and transmissions are the worst.


With a lot of work. You would have to change the output and tailshafts. Much easier to just get a used transmission unless youve got some buddies that have tackled this before. What stinks is when you are all done and it still doesnt work right. Been there done that.
