chevy equinox, dash says BRAKE and alarm sounds while driving, e brake

is not up does anyone know the cause? took it to a tire shop and they said they don't know what is wrong but that the car could use some brakes but not sure that will fix the problem. anyone know anything about this?

You probably are low on brake fluid. That is supposed to happen as the brakes get used up. Get new brakes- shop for the best price and don't go back to those knucklehead "I don't know..." guys if you don't want to find out the hard way that they don't know how to do one job without messing something else up.

u have a brake failure....something in the system is bad... u need to get it checked immediately.....that light and alarm r to let u no ur vehicle is'nt safe to drive....get the brakes fixed
