yesterday while driving the truck just died and wouldn't start. it's got plenty of electrical power and it has gas. The fan moves so we know its not seized. I'm guessing its something simple like the starter but that wouldn't make it die. messed with the ground wire to starter and it showed promise but still didn't start. It just won't turn over. It goes click click click.........any suggestions?

First your fan will turn because it works on a cultch is your cranshaft turning check the wiresgoing to dist.sometimes comes out cross start with scewdriver to see if starter is fine an check for wires on start to see if they are hot because switch wire goes to starter starter wire goes battery Make sure cable are clean take them off an wire brush them if still want turn take st off cross sol withscew driver with starter out if it does not turn your st . is bad if it works turn engine by hand if it turns it not lockup check to see if it is fireing stick screwdriver in plug wire ground it to engine turn over it will show a blue fire if it is fireing. If you done understand me you need take it to mechanic.

Your alternator has most likely failed. I suspect it ran on battery power only until the battery was discharged to the point it simply could'nt power the fuel and ignition systems anymore.
If you charge the battery you should be able to start it and then have a mechanic or parts store load test the alternator.
Best of Luck!
