Chevy 2.2 production motors are weak.
The transmission is no better.
I don't think they can handle the boost.
The best thing you can do is to find an engine that was a production unit that has a turbo already on it and swap the power train in.
Other then that, try to get a sound block and crank shaft and build a new engine for the turbo charger. To find a sound block may be a time consuming endeavor and incur costs well beyond a power-train swap.

Then you will just need a new motor and tranny after the old ones blowup because it is a cheap piece of junk that was never meant to handle that kind of power. Get a Camaro or Mustang and spend the money on it if you want to go faster, spending it on the Cavalier will be a big waste and it won't work.
you cannot, and upgrading your engine so that it can get anywhere close to handling forced induction (either supercharger or a turbo) makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, anywhere anytime....because of the costs involved and basically poor starting point (ie your existing block).
if anyone is telling you different - you had better research it, because it just will NOT work - get on some car forums dialogue with other owners who have upgraded similar cars...like here

if you really like your car, scout around and do an engine swap.....or if you had actually budgeted to do a turbo install, take that money and get a better car
