View Full Version : I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox AWD, is it OK to drive this car with the drive
shaft to the rear wheels removed? The carrier bearing went bad and is now completely missing. The bearing is on back order and GM does not known when they will be available. I need to use this car now and need to know if I could remove the drive shaft to the rear wheels and use the car with just FWD without causing any other problems.

Without a drive shaft your wheels can't spin, and without wheels...
maybe but you'll probably end up breaking something else

it should be alright as long as you remove the shaft.know that it is a temporary fix.make sure that you have them put in the shaft as soon as your bearings come in.
